Hi, I'm Jacob.

It all began in 2001 when my aunt asked if I could repaint her traditional Swedish timber house in red and white. I said yes even though I had no idea what I was doing. It was a catastrophe, but I learned a lot. Not long after, the neighbour asked if I could paint his house too. Word spread quickly, and within months I had more work than I could handle. I hired my mate Olle, and we created Bullerby Målarna. I learned more on the tools than any two-year apprenticeship could teach.

Years later, working on larger construction sites, I could see from the scaffolding the engineers and architects in their fancy cars heading into the site office. It gave me the impression that's what I should do. So I applied to study architecture in Australia and got accepted. My career in corporate construction was long and successful (Adelaide Oval, Northern Beaches Hospital, Westconnex, Barangaroo) but the fulfilment had faded. I found myself longing to return to the simple satisfaction of working with my hands.

I did something most would call irresponsible: I walked away from the big projects without a rigid plan, driven by the need to get back to what I love. Today I've traded the stress of corporate life for the simple satisfaction of painting houses across Sydney. I've lived in Dulwich Hill for the last 12 years. I spend my mornings at the local dog park with Teddy and my days transforming homes across the city.

Whether it's a heritage terrace, a single room, or a full exterior repaint, the goal is always the same: clean work, lasting results, and a home that feels renewed.
